Cursed

That first bite of forbidden fruit
Tastes so sweet
Its flavor brings a blush
As pleasure sweeps through my veins.

I am like the gods!
Immortal,
Invincible,
Laughing in the face of…

Death!

A gray pallor sweeps through my body
My heart skips a beat, slows
My mind is overwhelmed
The weight of knowledge too great for my fragility.

Sick bitterness sweeps through my soul
I turn toward the one I love, but
She has hidden herself within the leaves
The price of her sin too much to bear.

Our appetites lie exposed
We are cursed! And there is One walking,
Calling out our name, but we hide
In the leaves of our nakedness and shame!
